Objective:
The food and nutrition project helps participants learn to make healthy food choices, reduce disease and illness risks, and gain knowledge of nutrition. Major learning experiences are centered around nutrition, menu planning, food buying and preparation, food safety, careers, and cultural influences.

Objectives of the District 4-H Food Show:

  • To promote a sound image of the 4-H Foods and Nutrition Program both within the Texas Cooperative Extension and throughout the district.
  • To provide 4-H members an opportunity for additional learning experiences.
  • To provide 4-H members an opportunity to be recognized for their achievements in the 4-H Food and Nutrition Program.

Schedule:
8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Registration

8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
Food entries must be placed in Exhibit Area

9:30 a.m.
Orientation of Participants

9:30 a.m.
Orientation for Superintendents and Assistants

9:30 a.m.
Orientation of Judges and Tabulators

9:30 a.m.
Food entries MUST BE in Exhibit Area

9:50 a.m.
Designated contestants prepare to report to assigned waiting area (holding rooms) following orientation.

Judging begins

Awards Program

Immediately after Awards Program

Fee: $5 per contestant

Entry Deadline: Food Show report forms and recipes need to be in the District Office no later than October 31, 2007.

Entry and payment should be made through 4-H Connect by October 31, 2007.
