4-H is a community of young people across America who are
learning leadership, citizenship, and life skills. Texas 4-H is
open to all youth between the ages of 9 (or 8 and in the 3rd

Celebrate the centennial
From September 1, 2007 to August 31, 2008 the Texas 4-H and
Youth Development Program will celebrate 100 years of youth
development in Texas. We encourage you to visit the 4-H Centennial
site and learn how you can "Make it Yours" after 100 years of
Texas 4-H.

Objective: |

To perpetuate the reputation of Texas 4-H
and Youth Development as a major educational program.

To select winners in presentations and
certain activities through contests.

To provide recognition for 4-H members.

To promote opportunities for 4-H members
to network in recreational and social experiences in order
to improve their knowledge of 4-H opportunities.

To provide 4-H members the opportunity to
compare the skills they have gained with those of other
members and with their own previous performances.

To provide 4-H members with an opportunity
to develop and practice citizenship and leadership skills
in a different environment.

Contest Dates, Location & Registration
Deadlines: |
- Registration will be
on-line through 4-H CONNECT
- Multi District Horse Judging
Contest
will be held on
March 29 at Texas A&M University in College Station.
Individual on-line registration will open on February 15
through the deadline of March 14, 2008.
- Multi District Judging Contests
which include Entomology Id., Livestock Judging, Meat
Judging, Wool and Mohair Judging, and Soil Judging will be
held on April 19 at Texas A&M University in College
Station. Individual on-line registration will open on
February 15 through the deadline of March 28, 2008.
- D12 4-H Roundup - All Other
Contests will be held on May 3 at Coastal Bend College
in Kingsville. Individual on-line registration will open
on February 15 through the deadline of April 7, 2008.
- The Rifle Contest
will be held on May 3 at the Brooks County Airport 4-H
Shooting Range in Falfurrias. Registration for the Rifle
Contest will be under D12 4-H Roundup.

registration fee will be $10.00 per person per contest.
There is also a $3.00 fee which will be added to each
registration to support spirit items for State Roundup
