Delivery Strategies

4-H Pulse Preparing Youth for Leadership, Service, and Engagement

Organized 4-H Groups

County Council: This delivery strategy could include the executive committee of county council and all those delegates from each of the respective clubs in a setting that is spread throughout the year and hosted in combination with monthly meetings as well as other scheduled events and sessions.

Club Officers: Counties host club officer training events annually. In addition to that initial training, additional workshops, activities, and events could be incorporated to include all executive committees for each of the clubs in the county. This may also include officers of after-school clubs.

Youth Board: Although these groups may be small in numbers of youth, the Youth Board serves as a possible target group for implementation and delivery of this program.

Each of these programs are intended to be long-term programs that involve multiple sessions of learning and doing.

School Curriculum Enrichment & Other Groups

Leadership Class: Many middle school and high school campuses offer formal coursework in leadership for class credit towards advancement or graduation, perhaps as an elective course. This approach would include conducting a series of sessions throughout the year or semester (in block schedule situations) where students are led through the series of core learning concepts and objectives. In addition, youth could take responsibility for involving themselves in a long-term project in the community.

School Leadership Group: Most middle school and high school campuses have school-based leadership organizations that engage various aspect of campus issues. Groups such as student council or similar leadership groups could be targeted with this program.

Youth-serving Organizations: Other organizations in the community, outside of public/private education settings, also serve youth. Groups such as the Boys & Girls Clubs, Boy Scouts, and Girl Scouts could serve as a target group of youth that may benefit from the experiences of this program.
